The New Donkey and the Dog Story

Read and think - You may find one in your midst

There was once a washer man who had a donkey and a dog. One night when the whole world was sleeping, a thief broke into the house, the washer man was fast asleep too but the donkey and the dog were awake. The dog decided not to bark since the master did not take good care of him and wanted to teach him a lesson.

The donkey got worried and said to the dog that if he doesn't bark, the donkey will have to do something himself. The dog did not change his mind and the donkey started braying loudly.

Hearing the donkey bray, the thief ran away, the master woke up and started beating the donkey for braying in the middle of the night for no reason.

Moral of the story " One must not engage in duties other than his own"

Now take a new look at the same story...

The washer man was a well educated man from a premier management institute. He had the fundas of looking at the bigger picture and thinking out of the box. He was convinced that there must be some reason for the donkey to bray in the night.. He walked outside a little and did some fact finding, applied a bottom up approach, figured out from the ground realities that there was a thief who broke in and the donkey only wanted to alert him about it. Looking at the donkey's extra initiative and going beyond the call of the duty, he rewarded him with lot of hay and other perks and became his favorite pet.

The dog's life didn't change much, except that now the donkey was more motivated in doing the dog's duties as well. In the annual appraisal the dog managed "ME" (Met Expectations) .

Soon the dog realized that the donkey is taking care of his duties and he can enjoy his life sleeping and lazing around.

The donkey was rated as "STAR PERFORMER". The donkey had to live up to his already high performance standards.

Soon he was over burdened with work and always under pressure and now is looking for a NEW JOB ...

Many of us say that these things don't work in India . Couple of months back, the Faridabad Municipal Corporation laid new roads in his area and the residents were very happy about it. But 2 weeks later, BSNL dug up the newly laid roads to install new cables which annoyed all the residents.. A resident used the above listed grievance forum to highlight his concern.. To his surprise, BSNL and Municipal Corporation of Faridabad were served a show cause notice and the guy received a copy of the notice in one week. Government has asked the MC and BSNL about the goof up as it's clear that both the government departments were not in sync at all.

So use this grievance forum and educate others who don't know about this facility.

This way we can at least raise our concerns instead of just talking about the 'System' in India .

பல எண்ணங்களை கதைகளாக, கட்டுரைகளாக மூன்று ஆண்டுகளுக்கு மேலாக அங்கே எழுதி வருவதுண்டு. எனக்குத் தெரிந்த நண்பர்கள் வலைப்பூ ஒன்றை ஆரம்பியுங்கள் என்று சொல்ல 'அதெல்லாம் எதற்கு' என்றே வேண்டாம் என இருந்தேன். மேலும் தனியாக வலைப்பூ வைத்து எழுதும் அளவுக்கு எல்லாம் சிந்தனையும் இல்லை, மேலும் எழுதும் எழுத்தில் அலங்காரம் பூசும் அளவுக்கு தமிழ் இலக்கியவாதியும் நான் இல்லை என்றே இருந்தேன். பின்னர் எனது எழுத்துக்களையெல்லாம் சேகரிக்கும் தளமாக பயன்படுத்தலாம் என்றே வலைப்பூ ஆரம்பித்தேன்.

தங்களது எண்ணங்களை வெளியிட உதவியாக இருக்கும் இந்த வலைப்பூவில் இடப்படும் இடுகைகளுக்குக் கொடுக்கப்படும் விலை மிகவும் அதிகமாகவும் இருக்கக் கூடும், எவரின் கவனத்திலும் வராமலும் போகக் கூடும். என்பதை மட்டும் நினைவில் வைத்துக்கொண்டு இந்த வலைப்பூவில் சுதந்திரமாக எவரது பார்வையிலும் தவறுதலாக பட்டுவிடாமல் தொடர்ந்து பயணிக்கிறேன்.

நான் படித்தவரை பலருடைய பதிவுகள் மிகவும் தரம் வாய்ந்தவையாகவே எனது கண்களுக்குப் பட்டன. விமர்சித்து எழுதப்பட்ட ஒரு சில பதிவுகளில் இருந்த சில வார்த்தைகளைத் தவிர. எழுதுபவர்கள் மிகவும் கோர்வையாகவும், நேர்த்தியாகவும் எழுதுகிறார்கள்.

Loving Father

A father was sitting on the sofa in his house along with his highly educated son. Suddenly a crow perched on their window.

The Father asked his Son, "What is this?"

The Son replied "It is a crow".

After a few minutes, the Father asked his Son the 2nd time, "What is this?"

The Son said "Father, I have just now told you "It's a crow".

After a little while, the old Father again asked his Son the 3rd time, What is this?"

At this time some ex-pression of irritation was felt in the Son's tone when he said to his Father with a rebuff. "It's a crow, a crow".

A little after, the Father again asked his Son the 4th time, "What is this?"

This time the Son shouted at his Father, "Why do you keep asking me the same question again and again, although I have told you so many times 'IT IS A CROW'. Are you not able to understand this?"

A little later the Father went to his room and came back with an old tattered diary, which he had maintained since his Son was born. On opening a page, he asked his Son to read that page. When the son read it, the following words were written in the diary: -

"Today my little son aged three was sitting with me on the sofa, when a crow was sitting on the window. My Son asked me 23 times what it was, and I replied to him all 23 times that it was a Crow. I hugged him lovingly each time h e asked me the same question again and again for 23 times. I did not at all feel irritated I rather felt affection for my innocent child".

While the little child asked him 23 times "What is this", the Father had felt no irritation in replying to the same question all 23 times and when today the Father asked his Son the same question just 4 times, the Son felt irritated and annoyed..

So..

If your parents attain old age, do not repulse them or look at them as a burden, but speak to them a gracious word, be cool, obedient, humble and kind to them. Be considerate to your parents.
From today say this aloud, "I want to see my parents happy forever. They have cared for me ever since I was a little child. They have always showered their selfless love on me.

They crossed all mountains and valleys without seeing the storm and heat to make me a person presentable in the society today".
Say a prayer to God, "I will serve my old parents"
